After 1 year, we finally FINISHed!
Between my husband's days off and my in-between clients!
Thanks to: Fidel Pineda, Copper Sink
to: Yady Luis, Texas Granite & Tile
to: Jon Knight, for our tray ceiling
Problem; dining room and breakfast were separated by a wall. We actually used the dining 3 times in 12 years. Every one always migrated to the kitchen. Kitchen and breakfast were always dark. Tight space between refrigerator door and island. The island was 3' x 4½', with an upper cabinet blocking light to breakfast area.
Solution:
1) Take off the 3 layer vinyl floor, in the breakfast and kitchen.
2) Hired a professional carpenter-Jon, to brace the tray ceiling and load bearing beam, for one continuos ceiling.
3) Tackled the upper cabinets over the island and took out the bottom of the island.
4) Custom made the cabinets for the island. Added pull out for Kitchen Aide Mixer, sliding drawers for baking sheets and cooking pans.
5) Took out the carpet from the dining & office. Added natural stone flooring to the entry and on kitchen side of the island. Added floating, Brazilian ENGINEERED wood floors.
6) Painted front view of island cabinets black, kitchen side, apple green and end of the island is, Antique Saffron.
7) Added beaded board to frame the window. Restructured the cabinet for the microwave and oven. My husband custom made a "New", old fashion screen pantry door, with the sound affect-I wanted!
8) Got on each other’s nerves, ate dinner and continued working!
9) Took the old counter and sink off, needed a skelton cabinet shell for the granite counter.
10) Funds were low, so I bought 8, 12x12 sheets of various river rocks. Took rocks apart, individually added them to back splash, mixed with 4x4 and 1x1 inch glass tiles. Installed a copper farmers sink and faucet.
11) Took the popcorn ceiling off the kitchen and breakfast, re-textured through out the new ceiling.
12) Added ceiling trim and base board for an added accent.
13) Added recessed candle lighting, pendent lighting over the island and a new fan.
14) Installed the french doors in the office, previously in the dining room.
15) Painted the entry in the house and added a new ceiling lamp.
16) Continued with the wood flooring into the living room and office.
17) FIN! El Finale! The END! Finito!
